"Examination Presentation" animatic

In the context of Animasyros 2023 I attended a 3 day workshop by Joanna Quinn and Les Mills, titled "Are you ready to change your story", focused on exploring the process of developing Personal Narratives, from the initial descriptive explorations of personal experiences, through to the marriage of text and image, using animation’s ability to distort, subvert, exaggerate and alter audience perception. The workshop took place from the 24 through the 26th of September.     Through this time, each participant had to work on a script of roughly 300 words on the theme of "High Anxiety", with the goal of narrating and producing a final animatic about a minute in length, which we would present on the evening of the third day of the workshop.     This is my animatic, which focuses on the anxiety of presenting one's work in front of a group of people.

Project: Illustrating sensory discomforts

This was my project for my Material, Techniques & Presentation Media class, in which we focused on showcasing specific experiences of protecting the body.    Through the semester I interviewed a number of neurodivergent individuals who struggle with sensory sensitivities in what materials cause them discomfort, in what ways they experience that discomfort, and how they may deal with it. I then illustrated the struggles they feel during those negative experiences, as well as the solutions given according to the interviewees. For the project showcase, I chose to present them next to a container of the materials they represented, each discomfort paired with a solution.     For these illustrations a lot of attention was paid to exaggerating shapes, colors and textures, so as to communicate the sensory discomforts to viewers who may not similarly struggle with sensory issues, calling them to empathize.  Flour (left) & Slime (right) Sand (l...
